How a Giant Solar Tower Could Power the Future

A new energy concept called a solar tower could generate enough electricity for 200,000 homes. Looking like a giant smokestack, it would release no noxious fumes ? just sun-heated air. Demonstrated more than 20 years ago, the basic design calls for solar collectors to warm the air near Earth’s surface and then channel it up the tall central tower.

On a sunny day, the air at the top of the tower would be 70 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius), whereas the air in the greenhouse could reach 160 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius). As this hot air escapes up the tower at…

The Chinese government, that is, according to two U.S. Congressmen who recently accused Beijing of sending hackers to ferret out secret documents stored on Congressional computers. The Chinese deny any involvement, but if they were lying, would we be able to prove it?

Lewis said there are at least a half dozen other governments, besides China's, that have highly sophisticated hacker capabilities. This includes the United States. In fact, he said, attacks are common enough that they're almost not…

Analyst Predict: Theres a great future in iPhone apps

The $1.2 billion market size falls under Munsters Agrressive Case? scenario in which there are 85 million iPhone and iPod Touch users through the end of next year, 95 percent of whom would need to actively use the store. Still, given that Apple has the device available in six countries right now but will have it in some 70 countries by next year

More interesting is Apple’s position on the store. Jobs said earlier this year that the company never intended to make money off of the App Store, as Digital Daily reminds us. Yet, even under Munster’s “Conservative…

New Condition Identified … “Bikini Effect” impacts men!

Bikinis and other sexy stimuli make men more prone to seek immediate gratification. Its not that they’re distracted, rather showed improved cognition and creativity. Very interesting impacts.

The Social Network Wars Begin In Earnest: Facebook Bans Google Friend Connect

Facebook is all about openness and data portability, as long as that doesnt involve openness or portability of data, it seems.

I think it’s silly to disagree with this move. Facebook is a business. Google is a business. You don’t see Google opening up their search engine or PPC data. You can’t get backlink information, you can’t…
