Apple-Rogers falling out: A story too good to be

Daniel Smith, a Canadian sales and marketing consultant with an eclectic blog called Smithereens, posted on Saturday what he called a very plausible rumour? about the launch at of Apples iPhone 3G on the Rogers Communications network.

Well, that’s not the point I’m making. The point I’m making is that by going ga-ga for the iPhone is exactly like when cell phones themselves came out: the hardware was expensive and the rates were expensive. Umm,…

AT&T Family Plan for iPhone 3G

Lucrative information about the AT&T Family Talk plan for the iPhone and highly anticipated iPhone 3G.

Thanks a lot Mr. AT&T rep - we're glad you're enjoying that your employer is sucking us dry with these $30/month data plans that don't even include text messages, and now these apparent more expensive family plans. Great.

Santa Fe “wireless sensitives” fight hotspot plan

Residents of Santa Fe, NM, who claim to be sensitive to WiFi emissions plan to fight the city’s hotspot plan with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Oddly enough, they’ve never complained about cordless phones that operate on the same frequency as 802.11b/g

Toxicological research into the condition, which the World Health Organization has called "idiopathic environmental intolerance with attribution to electromagnetic fields" has not strengthened the case for such an ailment….

Finally! Data-only iPhone for just $20/month

Want a data-only plan for your iPhone? Hacktivate your iPhone with a Pay As You Go plan and add the new “Unlimited Media Net” feature package each month. You must watch your dates and times carefully to avoid reverting to standard data charges. You end up with a contract-free unlimited-data iPhone with the option of making calls @$20/mo

I read about this on another blog several days ago. I have an unused 8gb iPhone and thought I'd give it a try. The other site only used a $25 SIM card to start the deal going, so that's what I did. I ran into a few $ costing issues playing…

AT&T to cut the price of Apple’s new iPhone

AT&T is planning to put some extra shine on the even sleeker new Apple iPhone.
When the 3G iPhone is introduced this summer, AT&T, the exclusive U.S. iPhone sales partner with Apple, will cut the price by as much as $200, according to a person familiar with the strategy.

It’s a bit misleading to say that the iPhone has a “higher priced data and calling plan” because readers might think that the iPhone voice+data plan costs more than other voice+data plans, when what you are…

Create Your Own YouTube, Pray You Can Make Money

YouTube sold for $1.6 billion. How much will you sell yours for?? Thats the over-optimistic hook being used by StartYourTube to entice people into setting up branded video sharing sites on its white label platform.

I hate to say it, but this startup sort of looks like garbage. I went through the process of creating an account, and interacting with the administrative interface. It’s bloated and confusing. Seems like a gimmicky piece of trash.. There…

Why Steve Jobs wants to sell you a music subscription

Why is Apple suddenly in talks with record labels about bundling an unlimited music plan with new iPods, after resisting such a move for years? Steve Jobs has scoffed at music subscriptions in the past, saying customers want to “own their music.” Never take Steve at his word: For years, he shot down the idea of iPods with video or an…

Warner Music floats ISP surcharge idea for unlimited P2P

Warner Music has contracted industry vet Jim Griffin to come up with a plan that could end the music industry’s war against P2P. ISP customers could eventually pay a small fee and be able to upload, download, and share all the music they want on P2P. Labels and artists alike would get a cut of the proceeds.

Instead of suing handfuls of file-sharers, Griffin and Warner Music believe that the industry should be putting its time and effort into attempting to monetize P2P activity. The idea that music is a product that can be purchased and stolen…

By 2050 Solar Power Could End U.S. Dependence on Foreign Oil

A massive switch from coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear power plants to solar power plants could supply 69 percent of the U.S.s electricity and 35 percent of its total energy by 2050. But $420 billion in subsidies from 2011 to 2050 would be required to fund the infrastructure and make it cost-competitive.

The federal government would have to invest more than $400 billion over the next 40 years to complete the 2050 plan. That investment is substantial, but the payoff is greater. Solar plants consume little or no fuel, saving billions of dollars year…
