Rumor: .Mac relaunch to coincide with iPhone 2.0?

According to our anonymous tipster, .Mac will undergo a complete revamp that will coincide with the iPhone 2.0 launch (which everyone expect to occur at WWDC 08).

Taken from the transcript of the interview with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs at the D5 conference on May 30, 2007.Walt Mossberg (addressing Steve Jobs): You obviously have a very large Internet business with iTunes and you sell a lot of stuff…

Flickr find: 1Password icon shows up in the strangest places

If you’re an independent Mac software developer, having a wicked cool icon for your application is both a blessing and a curse. Users will remember you for the sleek, Leopard-ready goodness of your icon … and other unscrupulous marketers will rip you off shamelessly to promote their own products, rather than ponying up for an original design.

What really gets my fur up is that if you are going to rip something off, at least have the decency to make it look good. The window on the box is “tilted” inwards, the 1Password icon is “flat”, and the entire box is…

iPhone SDK beta 5 released

TUAW has info on the latest version of the iPhone SDK firmware (beta 5). Join us as we liveblog about new information as we get it.

I believe the change in size is due to the fact that they've removed the documentation from the download. At least that's the impression I get from the release notes. It suggests you get the index included with the download and can choose…

iPhone announced for Australia, New Zealand & 8 Others

Vodafone’s just got a tiny, minor, insignificant announcement to make this morning: it’s signed with Apple to sell the iPhone in ten markets, including Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy (so much for Telecom Italia), India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey. Expect the phone later this year — that’s all we know for no

Cnet.com.au was reporting that Optus was getting the iphone in Australia. If true this would back up the rumor of the new Apple strategy of non exclusive deals. To Vinay,The sign of any free market is choice. What you value is different from…

Is the iPhone Killing the Internet?

If you say that the iPhone is the greatest invention of your lifetime, few would bat an eye. But dare to claim that the iPhone is killing the Internet as we know it, you’d be laughed out of town. But that is the central argument of a new book “The Future of the Internet - and How to Stop It.” Read this interview with the author & hear his argument.

NEWSWEEK: There seem to be a bunch of books coming out attempting to grapple with where the Internet is heading and what it's doing to us. Jonathan Zittrain: I certainly think this is a particularly fertile time to be thinking about the future…

Supposed new iPhone specs, colors in the wild

Rumors are flying across both the Mac and non-Mac web like it’s June 28, 2007 all over again. While a rumor just last week brought rumblings of GPS and a thicker body, new details may offer more solid insight into what the next-gen iPhone looks like.

iLounge has come across some fairly believable images that reveal design changes and possibly even a new feature of the next iPhone. Of course, those details could also be hot air or even disinformation to throw off the early birds, but still:…

Next-gen iPhone spotted in the wild?

Well here’s an interesting one. French iPhone blog iPhon.fr got these pics from an anonymous and unverified source, and while there’s no way of telling if the shots are legit, they certainly have a truthy ring to them.

The whole plastic thing just doesn't sound right to me. It just not Steves style. Apple doesn't hand out prototypes to employees. The first generation was in the works for almost 4 years and there were no pictures like this. Most of apples…

Free Wi-Fi: Get Free Wi-Fi Access on Your Laptop at Starbucks, Barnes and Noble

Free WIFI at Starbucks and Barnes and Noble… yes please.

I'm glad my ATT DSL account will now get me access to Starbucks. I still prefer independent coffee shops because they are less crowded and give you enough room on a table to place BOTH your coffee and your laptop. by mbierman at 03:40 PM Reply…

Is AT&T Playing Favorites with iPhone Users?

iPhone users around the United States have confirmed that AT&T is giving them free Wi-Fi access at their many hotspots nationwide. All they have to do is enter their iPhone’s phone number to gain access. Is AT&T treating BlackBerry and other customers like second-class citizens?

Although the "rumor" that AT&T is giving iPhone users free Wi-Fi access has apparently been confirmed as true, I have not been able to confirm that AT&T customers who don't use an iPhone are locked out. If…
