Proof of Concept: Google Gadgets on KDE 4 Plasma Desktop

Plasma is KDE 4s way to handle desktop widgets. Plasma can not only use native widgets (Plasmoids), but also Superkaramba plugins and MacOS X dashboard widgets. Now this list was extended by a new set of widgets: the Google Gadgets. It was the Google Gadget team who did almost all this Plasma integration work.

As the title says, this is a proof of concept right now: it shows that it can be done. Nothing less, but also nothing more. The next task is now to integrate it with the GUI and for example to fetch new Gadgets right from the Google page….

10.5.4 update adds RAW support for new Canon, Pentax SLRs

Apple has updated its list of digital cameras supported by Mac OS X’s Camera Raw. 10.5.4 adds support for eight cameras from Canon, Pentax, Epson, and Leaf.
