Test: Does your ISP slow down bittorrent traffic?

Hundreds of larger and smaller ISPs all over the world try to limit BitTorrent traffic on their networks. Unfortunately, most companies are not very open about their network management solutions, with Comcast as the prime example. Thanks to the Glasnost project, you can now test wheter your ISP is one of the bad guys.

I don’t my ISP does anything. But back here in India the speeds are very slow anyway. Currently the max plan they have is for 2 mbps unlimited. 8Mbps costs a lot and have to pay for additional bandwidth.

IFPI Expert Witness in Pirate Bay Case Worked for IFPI

The only expert witness used in the case where the IFPI campaigned for The Pirate Bay to be blocked in Denmark, was previously employed by the IFPI. Now working for an anti-piracy company, Kristian L?kkegaard used to work for a law firm serving the IFPI but the court didnt know this.

It’s totally disgusting. So far I haven’t heard nothing but scandals from anti-piracy organisations and the media industry. You simply can’t own a string of text, series of images or ideas. And the fact that…

Demonoid Is Back Online

Yesterday, we reported that the popular BitTorrent tracker Demonoid was to be resurrected, under a new administrator. Now, less that a day later the site has made its comeback after exactly 6 months of downtime.

Demonoid always had a spot on my torrent bar, even the entire time it was down. I’m glad it’s finally back.

TorrentSpy Shuts Down

Little over a year ago TorrentSpy.com was still the most visited BitTorrent site, but times have changed. After an expensive two year battle with the MPAA, TorrentSpy decided to throw in the towel and the site has now shut down permanently.

P2P could, for the span of 1 or 2 months, totally ban torrents, legal or otherwise, from USA. All P2P users will boycott all movies showing at theatres in their own countries, all music from the stores, etc. Advertise the fact of the ban, so the…
